This tour for the time poor has scenic highlights with some wildlife mixed in.
Itinerary
The tour begins with a meet and greet at your selected Kangaroo Island accommodation or upon your arrival at Kingscote Airport.
With a jam-packed day of exploring ahead, we’ll go straight to Seal Bay where your guide will take you down to the beach for a fascinating, informed walk right amongst the sea-lions. Seal Bay hosts a local colony of 800 male bulls, female cows and baby pups. These magnificent creatures grace the beach year-round, so you’ll always be able to see them, no matter what time of year you visit.
Afterwards, we’ll take a morning tea break with home-made biscuits washed down freshly brewed coffee and tea.
Next, it’s on to spend a wonderful few hours in the island’s largest park, Flinders Chase. You’ll travel through the 74,000 hectares of natural landscape towards Rocky River, the park’s headquarters.
From there we drive through a dense forest of eucalyptus and Casuarina to Admirals Arch. This incredible natural structure is breathtaking in itself, but here you’ll also get to witness the colony of New Zealand fur seals who have made it their home.
Highlights include
- Walk among the sea lions at Seal Bay
- Explore Flinders Chase National Park including Admirals Arch and Remarkable Rocks
- See koalas at an Australian wildlife sanctuary
- Feast on a lunch of local produce
The ocean views are fantastic as we progress towards Remarkable Rocks. The name truly says it all, as you’ll marvel at these geological natural works of art, formed over 500 million years ago! Here you’ll get to wander through the sculptures of granite, carved by natural forces. This is certainly a spot where you don’t want to forget your camera.
Afterwards, we’ll head back to Rocky River for a local BBQ lunch. This is complemented by fresh salads, local KI wines and other refreshments. For dessert spoil yourself by indulging in our special poached pears.
Enjoy all this served in the bush, whilst nestled amongst the beautiful tall gum trees.
After your meal, it’s time to say hello to some koalas, Tammar wallabies, kangaroos and if you’re lucky, an echidna.
Tally up your koala count that you can spot in the Tasmanian Blue Gums, as you enjoy the scenic drive back to your accommodation or airport departure.
