It includes an abundance of wilderness, wildlife and stunning scenery. The tour is all-inclusive with and delicious home cooked lunches, great SA wines and beers, fresh coffee, bed & breakfast, entry fees and transfers.

Please note: due to the recent bushfires, this tour is unavailable.

Day 1

The day begins with a meet and greet at selected Kangaroo Island accommodation or upon arrival at Kingscote Airport. Then we set off to Seal Bay Conservation Park. Here you’ll wander through the seal colony with an experienced conservation guide, learning how these impressive creatures survive the rigour of the Southern Ocean.

Then you’ll journey further south and enjoy a pleasant, easy walk through the bush, coming out at the base of Kangaroo Island’s spectacular and vast sand dunes of Little Sahara. Climb the dunes and enjoy stunning views of distant bays and the serene, rural landscape.

From the South Coast, we’ll traverse the rural areas of the middle of the island via the Parndana Wildlife Park. This park was set up as an ‘animal refuge’, where sick, injured, orphaned or unwanted animals could find a home. You’ll marvel at the colours of the Australian birds, pat a koala and feed a kangaroo. Your delicious lunch will be a picnic of marinated chicken and fresh salads, complemented by a selection of beverages. For dessert, you can indulge in some tangy lemon tart.

Next, we’ll enjoy the north coast beaches of Snellings and Stokes Bay, which are perfect for a leisurely stroll. Enjoy the sound of waves breaking on the pristine sandy coast, or if the weather allows, go for a swim in some of the clearest water you will ever experience.

Finally, you’ll take a nature walk through the drooping she-oaks of Lathami National Park and observe the kangaroos and wallabies. This is also the habitat of the rare Glossy Black Cockatoo and a great place to perhaps spot the elusive echidna (spiny ant-eater.)

The first day’s touring concludes with your return to your island accommodation.

Today your guide will meet you at your selected island accommodation. Along the way to your first attraction, we may call past KI airport to collect new guests. We’ll then visit Rocky River the headquarters of Flinders Chase National Park where you’ll see kangaroos laze and Cape Barren geese graze.

Flinders Chase is a vast park and home to all our varieties of native animals and birds. Within it is Admirals Arch, an impressive, ancient limestone formation on the ocean. The natural structure in itself is awe-inspiring, but you’ll also get to witness the active colony of the New Zealand fur seals, who frolic and play here.

Remaining in the national park, we’ll travel to Remarkable Rocks, via the spectacular coastline of Cape du Couedic. Here the forces of nature have carved extraordinary sculptures out of the granite. You’ll get the chance to walk amongst these huge pieces of natural art and take some impressive photos.

Prior to your lunch, you’ll take a short bushwalk searching for the echidna (spiny ant-eater) and observing the colourful Crimson Rosella.

For lunch you’ll have a delicious traditional Australian BBQ with potatoes, fresh salads, local KI wines and other refreshments. For dessert spoil yourself by indulging in our special pears poached in KI red wine, accompanied by KI’s unique sheep’s milk yoghurt. You’ll enjoy all this served in the bush, whilst nestled amongst the beautiful tall Gum trees.

After your meal, we’ll head for Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, which is 9,500 acres of protected land. You’ll spot an abundance of koalas in the ‘Tasmanian Blue Gums’ that grow in the area. Your guide will then take you down a bush lined track and into ‘Grassdale’, part of the Kelly Hill Conservation Park. Here you’ll see the large ‘mob’ of kangaroos that graze the grassy flats and shelter in the surrounding bush. Wander through some of the old relics that speak of a bygone era of early pioneer farming.

Next stop is Vivonne Bay, awarded the best beach in the world, with its white sands and crystal clear turquoise water. Take in the majestic scenery of Point Ellen where you can collect shells on the beach and possibly see a penguin in its rookery.

Day 3

We’ll collect you from your accommodation to visit the picturesque little town of American River. You’ll watch the impressive pelicans and look for the Glossy Black Cockatoo here as well. Take a walk along the ocean’s edge and through the tall she-oaks and gum trees, to a historic clearing where early settlers started the very first ‘industry’ on KI.

We’ll then head over to the east of the island and explore the quaint coastal township of Penneshaw and discuss it’s history. On the way, we may call into Sunset Winery for a sample of their latest vintage. You’ll enjoy your picnic lunch of roasted beef fillet, fresh salads and tasty fruits under the paperbark trees that line the Chapman River.

Take a glass of wine and stroll along the beautiful Antechamber Bay to look for penguins and search for shells. You’ll be able to climb up the oldest lighthouse in South Australia at Cape Willoughby on the far eastern tip of the Island.

A visit to the renowned Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery or Clifford’s Honey Farm may take your interest. Sample their fragrant local produce, perhaps collecting some souvenirs too. You’ll learn about more of the island’s unique species and the industries they have inspired.

End the day by the ocean, sitting on the rocks in Kingscote (KI’s capital “town”) marvelling at the pelicans soaring overhead as they wait for their daily feed. You may even get a chance to feed them yourself.

On our final day, we head to the north-western end of the island and trek through the thick natural bushland of the Ravine de Casoars, named by the French in 1802. Here you’ll discover the impressive caves and see where shipwrecked sailors etched their names in the rocks.

Enjoy our picnic lunch of South Australian prawns, fresh salads and dessert at Cape Borda Light House with views of the spectacular cliffs that rise up from the ocean.

After a good rest over lunch, head deep into the Flinders Chase National Park in search of the shy and elusive platypus. This is a great day in the bush for those who enjoy the quiet isolation and walking. You’ll love exploring the great outdoors.

The fourth day of our tour concludes either at the airport for your flight to Adelaide, or at your island accommodation.
